Placement year opportunities

We offer a placement year programme for university students who are looking to complete a year in the property industry as part of their degree course.  Like graduates, our placement year students are treated no differently from any other team member. Under close supervision you will start contributing to the team from day 1 getting involved in real instructions and project work.

Our placement students do not rotate but are placed in established teams who are used to having them and understand their needs. At LSH your placement year can count towards your APC which means it may be possible to sit your APC and qualify after just  12-18 months on a graduate scheme once you have finished university.

We accept applications from students pursuing the following APC Pathways

  • Commercial Property Practice
  • Building Surveying

We typically host placement students at the following offices:

  • London
  • Belfast
  • Birmingham
  • Manchester
  • Leeds
  • Sheffield
  • Bristol

What can I expect as a Placement Year Student at LSH?

  • 12 months practical, on-the-job experience which can count towards your APC
  • Involvement with real instructions for a wide range of clients and properties.
  • A dedicated APC counsellor
  • 1-1 support from your manager
  • Access to our both our elective and 1st Year APC training courses to help develop your business skills
  • A lively sports and social scene

You will receive all this in an inclusive, supportive and fun environment and to top it all you will be rewarded with a competitive salary!

Can I apply?

Our typical applicants are 2nd year students studying an RICS accredited undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Real Estate (or similar) or Building Surveying with a placement year option.

How to apply

The application process for placement year students is similar to that of Graduates.

Step 1:  Complete a brief online application form , upload your CV and submit

Step 2:  When you have completed step 1 you will be directed to another website to complete 3 video questions.

You must complete steps 1 & 2 before the deadline for your application to be considered. You do not have to complete the video questions straight away but we recommend you aim to complete them within a week of completing step 1.

What happens next?

Shortlisting: Once the application window has closed on 30th November, all applications are reviewed and a shortlist compiled of those we wish to progress to first interview. At this stage all applicants will receive an email to advise if they have been successful or not.

First interviews: Interviews typically take place in mid-late January at the office you have chosen to apply for. Typically our Placement interviews take around 60 mins and include competency questions and a short verbal technical assessment.

Once all the interviews have been completed, final selections will be made and successful applicants will be notified by phone. This usually happens in early February.

Applications for our 2019 Placement Year programme will open on 1st October 2018
